Swiss Motorcycle Price Index – September 2026

Swiss Motorcycle Price Index – September 2026

Rottweiler Motors Journal · Swiss Used Motorcycle Market

September is a market of extremes. Affordable rider bikes are still easy to find, but the gap between ordinary examples and preservation-grade machines is getting harder to ignore. The Monster 900 and SR400 now show dramatic outliers, while scarce adventure icons remain surprisingly attainable.

The September signal: Ducati Monster 900 and Yamaha SR400 prices are increasingly split by condition and originality. The Kawasaki W650 remains liquid, the Africa Twin has gained a cheaper entry point, and the NX650 is still absent from the visible Swiss market. Asking prices below are a snapshot, not confirmed transaction prices.

Swiss Market Snapshot

Model Observed asking range Supply September view
Yamaha SR400 CHF 3,600–3,900 for normal examples; one CHF 9,900 outlier 4 listings Small market, strong outlier

Kawasaki W650 CHF 3,900–7,990 9 listings Healthy supply, wide spread
BMW R1150 GS / Adventure roughly CHF 2,900–4,900 for visible usable examples Multiple Outstanding utility value
Yamaha XT600 CHF 2,900–3,300 rider bikes; roughly CHF 5,400–7,000 early/Ténéré examples 10 listings incl. one unusual new listing Clear two-tier market
Honda XRV750 Africa Twin CHF 3,500–6,000 3 visible examples Scarce, cheaper entry point
Suzuki DR650 CHF 1,700–4,999 Very low Condition dominates price
Honda NX650 Dominator No current listings observed 0 listings Scarcity only, no price signal

1. Ducati Monster 900 — The Split Is Now Structural

Nine current advertisements span from ordinary rider bikes below CHF 5,000 to a 1997 example with only 1,042 km at CHF 10,500. That spread makes the lesson clear: model name alone no longer explains value. Originality, early production, mileage, documented belt and valve work and untouched cosmetics increasingly determine which market a Monster belongs to.

RTWR verdict: ordinary 900s still offer serious character per franc; exceptional originals have already entered collector pricing.

2. Yamaha SR400 — Four Bikes, Two Price Worlds

The normal September market is remarkably compact: three examples sit between CHF 3,600 and CHF 3,900. Then comes a 2015 motorcycle with just 1,664 km at CHF 9,900. One advertisement does not reset the market, but it shows how strongly sellers can price ultra-low-mileage, presentation-grade examples.

RTWR verdict: CHF 3,600–3,900 remains the useful rider benchmark; treat the CHF 9,900 bike as a collector outlier, not an average.

3. Kawasaki W650 — Still the Market’s Best Retro Barometer

Nine listings create genuine choice from CHF 3,900 to CHF 7,990. The lower end remains accessible, several middle-market bikes sit around CHF 4,000–5,500, while dealer-prepared and particularly clean examples command materially more. That is a healthier market than a single rare listing: buyers can compare condition rather than simply accept the only available price.

RTWR verdict: stable long-term appeal, but September still rewards selective buyers.

4. BMW R1150 GS — Value Without Fashion Tax

Visible GS and Adventure examples remain roughly in the CHF 2,900–4,900 zone, including a high-mileage 2005 Adventure around CHF 3,395 and lower-mileage dealer bikes closer to CHF 4,500–4,900. The market continues to price mileage more calmly than many retro categories because service history and mechanical condition matter more.

RTWR verdict: still one of Switzerland’s strongest long-distance purchases below CHF 5,000.

5. Yamaha XT600 — The Heritage Premium Is Fully Visible

Later XT600E rider bikes remain around CHF 2,900–3,300, while early 1984 machines and Ténéré variants cluster roughly between CHF 5,400 and CHF 7,000. The difference is no longer subtle: historical specification, correct tanks and bodywork and early production matter far more than the XT600 badge alone.

RTWR verdict: later bikes are excellent riders; early correct examples are already preservation purchases.

6. Honda XRV750 Africa Twin — Scarce, But a New Low Entry Point

Three visible examples now stretch from CHF 3,500 to CHF 6,000. That lower asking price is important: it puts a genuine Africa Twin comfortably below the CHF 5,000 line while supply remains thin. Buyers should judge bodywork, subframe, wheel condition, electrical health and evidence of hard travel use before celebrating the price.

RTWR verdict: the CHF 3,500 example makes September unusually interesting for heritage-adventure buyers.

7. Suzuki DR650 — Thin Supply, Huge Condition Spread

The newest visible data show only two examples, from a CHF 1,700 DR650 SE to a CHF 4,999 Dakar-labelled machine. With supply this thin, a model average is almost meaningless. Mechanical condition, modifications, inspection status and documentation dominate the price.

RTWR verdict: inspect the motorcycle, not the number in the advertisement.

8. Honda NX650 Dominator — Still Missing

The MotoScout24 model page continues to show zero results. That strengthens the scarcity story from August, but it still does not establish a new price level. The next clean Swiss NX650 advertisement will be more informative than another month of absence.

RTWR verdict: a scarcity watch, not a confirmed appreciation story.

What Changed Since August?

SR400

Supply fell from seven observed listings to four, while a CHF 9,900 outlier widened the visible price spread.

Monster 900

The rider/collector divide remains the clearest pricing story in the index.

XRV750

A CHF 3,500 example lowers the entry point without changing the scarcity thesis.

NX650

Zero visible listings again. Scarcity is confirmed; price appreciation is not.

Methodology & Disclaimer

Research completed on 1 September 2026 using current Swiss MotoScout24 model pages and visible advertisements. Ranges reflect asking prices, not negotiated or completed transaction prices. Listing counts and availability can change at any time. Extreme outliers, heavily modified motorcycles and unclear advertisements were treated cautiously. Rottweiler Motors did not physically inspect any motorcycle and has no commercial relationship with the sellers.
