This summer, I’m embarking on an epic journey to Nordkapp, the northernmost point of Europe accessible by road. As the founder of Rottweiler Motors, this trip is not only a personal dream come true but also a unique opportunity to share my experiences with you, our valued customers and fellow motorcycle enthusiasts. Throughout this adventure, I'll be posting regular updates on my progress, sharing the highs and lows, the scenic views, and the incredible experiences along the way.
A Journey of a Lifetime
For many motorcyclists, riding to Nordkapp is a bucket-list trip. The route promises not only the challenge of covering long distances but also the reward of breathtaking landscapes and the chance to test both rider and machine in diverse conditions. From the temperate summer climes of central Europe to the chilly, rugged terrains of the Arctic Circle, this journey covers a variety of terrains and weather conditions, making it a true test of endurance and preparation.
The Route
Starting from our base in Zurich (Switzerland), the route will take me through Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, before finally reaching Nordkapp. Each country offers its own unique set of landscapes and experiences.
Germany
The adventure begins with familiar roads, heading north towards Denmark. We will be starting in Hamburg, as we take the Train from Switzerland to have a bit of a time-save. The smooth roads will be a good warm-up for both the bike and me.
Denmark
Crossing into Denmark, I’ll navigate through charming towns and scenic coastal routes. Denmark’s flat landscapes and well-maintained roads will make for a pleasant ride. It will be a short trip as we will cross into sweden on the second day (Malmö). Maybe we will se more ode Danemark on our way back.
Sweden
Sweden offers a mix of urban and rural landscapes. The ride through its forests and past its numerous lakes will be a tranquil yet visually stunning part of the journey. We will try to ride along the sea to finally reach Norway.
Norway
As we head into Norway, the scenery will become increasingly dramatic. Riding through fjords, mountains, and possibly facing the infamous Norwegian weather, this leg of the trip will be the most challenging. The final stretch to Nordkapp will take me through some of the most remote and beautiful landscapes in Europe.
Challenges and Preparations
Preparing for a trip of this magnitude requires meticulous planning. Ensuring the bike is in top condition is paramount. I've spent the last few months fine-tuning my motorcycle, ensuring that everything from the engine to the tires is ready for the long haul.
In addition to the mechanical preparations, packing the right gear is crucial. The weather can be unpredictable, especially in northern Scandinavia, so packing layers, waterproof gear, and thermal clothing is essential. A well-stocked toolkit, first-aid kit, and spare parts will also be accompanying me. Also this will be a pretty cool test for Rottweiler Motors Gear (already existing and in planing ;))
The Adventure Awaits
I’m excited to share every step of this journey with you. From the early mornings to the late-night campfires, each day will bring new experiences and stories to tell.
